When I was at Buffalo in the early 90s, very few people were willing to admit that poetic traditions had anything oedipal about them at all. I guess the walls have crumbled on that one if we're now at the point that the oedipal theory has become such a cliche that we have to argue for the existence of non-oedipal elements in the development of traditions.mark wallacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10047292022080114501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23086400.post-1166228148910574412006-12-15T16:15:00.000-08:002006-12-15T16:15:00.000-08:00I've read more Pinsky than Warren, but the Warren ...I've read more Pinsky than Warren, but the Warren I've read didn't do that much for me. On my limited evidence I'd say he's a better prose writer than poet. With Pinsky, no matter how much of it you read, you never come across anything worth remembering, or come up with one solid thing that's he actually saying.mark wallacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10047292022080114501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23086400.post-1166143764596616762006-12-14T16:49:00.000-08:002006-12-14T16:49:00.000-08:00glad you're ok with that.
